Bamako urban school
This school project in Bamako is designed in an L-shaped layout to minimize heat gain and enhance natural ventilation, with the admin block elevated to free up the ground floor for communal activities. Featuring nursery classrooms and a canteen, the design centers around a large open play area for children. Constructed with a raw RCC frame, exposed brickwork, and rat-trap bond for thermal insulation, the facade includes carefully designed projections and recesses for self-shading. The architecture strikes a balance between functional clarity, material honesty, and a soft, contemporary presence that integrates seamlessly with the rapidly transforming neighborhood.
